Summer
Heat Wave 2006
Does anyone else
hate this heat wave??? With no rain all summer you would think
that haying would be easy this year. The humidity is not helping
the hay dry at all, and I feel like all I’ve done all summer
is put up feed.
Thankfully, Dad is
letting me take the truck and trailer next weekend for a two-day
trail ride with some friends. I’m taking my three-year old
paint gelding. He needs a lot of work, but I just have not had
time this summer to train him. Maybe after harvest I can ride
him everyday and get some really good training in. He is pretty
green – for a cow horse.
I hate to say it…but
I’m actually looking forward to school this year. One more
year and then FREEDOM! I want to buy a quarter of my own after
graduation, but my parents want me to get on somewhere as a welding
apprentice (or some kind of trade) as a backup to farm work…maybe?
